Help. I have a two pound Hallcross Hen with Gapeworm. We are treating with Safeguard fenbendazole. We have given .2 directly by mouth yesterday and today. No improvement yet. My questions are is this the right dose? How long would it take before we would see improvement. And what would be the best product to use to worm the rest of the flock? Thanks!

Gapeworm is fairly rare, more common in tropical regions, and respiratory infection can look like gapeworms. How much does your chicken weigh? Fenbendazole dosage is 0.25 ml per pound of weight given for 3-5 days in a row orally to each chicken for treatment of gapeworms. So for a 2 pounder, 1/2 ml should be enough. Most chickens with gapeworm are breathing so hard and arching their necks that they cannot eat and drink. What symptoms are you seeing?
