I have a 5 year old Buff Orpington that I suspect has gapeworms. I have safeguard fendendazole for goats. Suspension 10% 100mg/ml can I use this on my girl? Thank you

Could you post a video of hen gaping?

Gapeworm is rather uncommon in poultry, and when consistent gaping motions are made, it's likely to be a respiratory problem or a condition that may affect how the bird might breathe like EYP, or crop stasis.

That said, you can use SafeGaurd, the dose being 0.23ml per pound orally for five days, but compared to other possibilities, it would seem unlikely that is her problem. A fecal float can be done to check for gapeworm eggs in her feces.

Besides the gaping, what other symptoms is your hen exhibiting, any sneezing, or rattled breathing, how does the inside of her mouth look? Feel her crop tomorrow morning, and let us know how it feels.

I will make a video tomorrow. She stretches her neck and makes a gagging or yawning type motion. I felt her crop and although full of grain it i was able to move the grain around easily. Earlier she appeared to have a little bit of labored breathing but it eventually stopped. I live in Florida and the heat is still strong with the sun. She is eating well but sadly the same thing happened to by last chicken and I had to put her down a week later. Her breathing got worse ans worse. It was terrible. Im going to call my vet tomorrow, whom I also worked with for 4 years and will see if she will take a look at my chicken and her stool. Thank you so much for responding and I will definitely keep you updated.

Shes not showing any signs of URI but hopefully I can have her seen tomorrow to rule out what wrong. Thank you for the information.
What you are describing is a sign. It's a sign she is having trouble breathing. It's a very bad sign.

I just checked on her and she is completely normal. Perched and alert as soon as she heard me. No labored breathing at all. No wheezing no runny eyes no swelling no sneezing. Comb is pink. She didn't do the yawning thing either. I watched her for 15 mins. I will be calling my vet asap in the morning to get her checked out.

Does she still lay eggs?

I agree, it sounds like crop adjustment. Check her crop first thing in the morning to make sure it's emptying overnight. Feel her abdomen below the vent between her legs for bloat or fluid.
