Hello Everyone

One o f my pheasants started gasping for air and sneezing, also when i get close to it i hear this gurgling noise once in a while, but it eats fine and it's very lively and energetic. Are these signs of gapeworm? I have been told if i see little red worms around its throat than it is gapeworm, but i checked my pheasant mouth and throat region and don't see anything unusual. If these are symptoms of gapeworm how can i treat it?

Thanks

All pheasants should be wormed twice a year.Usually around Jan before breeding season and again in July after laying season. After the 1st time you worm them you need to worm them again 10 days later to kill th cycle.I use ivemec to worm mine.Wazine and piperazine are other wormers but aren't as strong.
In N.H.,Tony.

Thanks tony

I had wormed them back in February using ivemec also, so do you think its not a gap worm problem but some other respiratory infection?

check if their is any watery eyes or for swollen sinus.Interesting when you mention about the gasping, I have once a Australian crested pigeons one day my female gasping for air when I open the mouth it was full of canker I remove it with a tweezer and she was fine again

Yea it looks like its gasping but i really don't know if it is since there is nothing in its throat it just has this gurgling noise while it breathes and sneezes once in a while, but no watery eyes or swollen sinus nor mucus. I was told that Duramycin-10 might help if its not a gapeworm problem
