Garbage disposal chickens

Hi all I have a mixed flock of EE and lavender orpingtons. We have a growing family and typically have a fair amount of food scraps and waste that goes to the chickens. I I noticed that the orps are more aggressive and eat quite a bit of scraps without fussing but the Easter eggers are more picky. What breeds are good/resourceful at consuming whatever is thrown in front of them?

For me, turning scraps into eggs is a desirable trait. Thanks.

My red sex links aren’t picky... It might be just my birds, but they LOVE any scraps I feed them. My other breeds aren’t that picky either.

All my birds will eat scraps. And they love them! But make sure you always have a complete chicken feed available to them.

Mutts. Almost all our chickens are cross breeds and like dog mutts they are more vigorous and eat scraps with vigor I highly recommend crossing breeds to get the hybrid vigor of mixing genes from different lines of chickens.

Yes our flock is well taken care of they get fermented feed as well. I am looking to add another breed to our flock next year. Thinking of barred rocks. I am pretty far north, zone 4

Just started fermenting a few months back. I am fermenting whole grain. Chickens seem to like it quite well. For our chicks I run the whole grain through the blender and then ferment it. Chicks we hatched this year and raised with mother hens are 3 months and doing well.

What kind of grains are you using?

We have a mix of wheat, sunflowers, red milo, oats, millet, whole corn and a few pellets. We get mix that is called Knock Out made by Faithway in Guntersville AL, and we add wild bird seed, extra sunflowers and extra corn. Before we started fermenting they didn't eat the wheat as completely as we wanted, now they eat the wheat quite well.
