i have found out that my five, full-grown hens who have not been laying very often in the earlier season, have suddenly started to lay more!
The only fact I have that makes sense is that I have been letting them out every morning to run free because they do not have a new outdoor run...( We just recently made a new indoor coop for them so we could make room for my new chicks.)
they tend to peck at all sorts of weeds i stick in the pile and love to dig in the dirt for food! The sunlight gives them vitamin D and i put fresh grain and water in their coop and leave the door open for access at all times. They are now laying 4-5 eggs a day ....which is a pretty big improvement from before....(1-2 eggs)
try it !!!!!
