Sounds painful.

You should get PJs with feet protectors built in. Or maybe a Snuggie? Don't those Snuggie things have feets?
Too hot in here with the wood stove better off with long t shirt style pjs, legs are not resticted.
It could be a lot worse. Luckily my bone density is good and i didn't break any bones. This is not as bad as broken ribs for sure. I was just worried it was not improving.

While i was in Lynchburg i saw a farm and garden seed place. Screech! Apply brakes! They had more types of daffodils than i have ever seen! And i got a coal shovel for dh to go with the bucket. And some seeds, bulb fertilizer and a magazine. Really enjoyed looking around!
I can almost picture you slamming on your brakes when you saw a garden shop - lol! :gig

I wanted to get Hubs just one more present (small stocking-stuffer type), so I bought him a pack of 10 Japanese wysteria seeds. We had some wysteria when we lived down south, and he built a big arbor that we grew them on, and they were fantastic! He keeps talking about growing some here, so I bought him some seeds. Japanese can supposedly take zone 4 (MN), whereas Chinese are more zone 5 & up.

Cap, did the Dr. have any suggestions for your knees, or just wait and they'll eventually heal?

Hi all you happy gardeners and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I was just talking to DH about how I can understand the feasibility and desirability of having a green house and how could I rig one.......not easily for winter use.......and realized I haven't popped in on this thread for a while.

@CapricornFarm, so glad you didn't hurt your knees worse than bruising. That is good news indeed.

As for RA I'm to be evaluated sometime next year for it. Doctor seems to think that I may have it as I am developing nodules on my knuckles in my hands and in my feet. Plus I am loosing function in my hands and dealing with chronic pain on a daily basis. Not too concerned if I do have it. I have been dealing with rheumatic diseases most of my life. Just another feather in my cap so to speak.

As for Life Insurance, I decided when dealing with my mom and dad in their later years and dad having to go into a nursing home that life insurance isn't necessarily going to do anything other than pay for your custodial care because the first thing they asked me was 'does your parents have any life insurance?' If they do be prepared to sign it over to the facility where they will live.

My big pain has been health insurance.

I managed to get about 20 more peach pits in the ground and hoping to get more planted before next week when we are set to have our first single digit lows for the season.

We discussed pain pills but i do not want to be drugged up and it really is bearable. I have been sleeping with a heating pad on them and taking ibuprofen. He was supposed to call in an rx but has not so i need to call them.
My hubby is always trimming things. Our wisteria in TN just started growing when we had to move to FL to help my parents.

I wish i felt as good as this snow man seems to! Love it!

I have a new favorite squash. It seems like every variety I try becomes my new favorite. I always thought Butternut to be bland, and not even worth the effort to cook it. That is all my BIL ever buys, and I for the life of me have not been able to figure out why he would even bring such a bland veggie home from the store. So... this summer, I decided to try growing it. Just to see if it's the variety that's objectionable, or perhaps the fact that all I've ever tried is commercially grown Butternut. Yep. Home grown Butternut is my new absolutely best fave. For now! Last year, it was Blue Hubbard! Same thing. Home grown rocks!!!

Butternut will be super easy to grow on a trellis, as it's not as big as a Blue Hubbard!!

Never met a squash I didn't like!

Adaptive squash prep: Place squash in a plastic bag. Take bagged squash outdoors. Smash it onto the frozen ground. Squash is now broken up into manageable sized chunks. Once the squash is broken open, it is easy to scoop the seeds and pulp out for the chickens, then cut it into wedges with a heavy knife. Cut from the flesh side, and it will cleave apart nicely. If it's a hard skinned squash, as almost all are, you can simply cook it in the skin, and then scoop the flesh out. Or lay the wedges on a cutting board and use the big hefty knife to cut the skin off with multiple slices around the radius of the wedge.

I still think they ALL are bland. But I will eat them as long as there is something else on plate to distract my taste buds. A very looooooong time ago when I first inquired about butternut squash, someone gave me this cooking/baking advice.
Cut in half and dig out seeds. Into that cavity fill with butter. Bake until done.
Has anyone tried this method, or was it just that persons personal method???
