Gardening for Old Folks (Adaptative)

Thanks for posting that. We haven't given in yet, still not using any heat in the coop. All the girls seem okay thus far (fingers crossed). Wish it would warm up soon, even just a little.
You didn't get that warm up from -14 to -2 today? It was almost tropical.

This morning, my only egg of the day was frozen before I got it. Brutal temps scheduled throughout most of January. Not much better in February. Feed consumption is down.
My guineas still have not gotten back to their coop. 2nd day of no feed except scratch. All they need to do is go in. They stood at the door looking, but would not go in. I might have to catch them again.

Define enjoyable! This winter is making up for the mild temps of last winter. Pay back time.
It is all sarcasm of course. I'm seeing wicked wind chills predicted this coming week.

I can't remember much about last winter because of my knee replacement, that's all I remember. Actually it's been a few winters since I have been vaguely lucid, so I guess for me it's my first winter in quite a few years that I'm back out there battling the elements instead of just looking out the window.

So maybe it is actually enjoyable, reminds me I'm alive and kicking still, and able to do my own stuff again.

Well, there's something to be said about being able to enjoy the misery of the weather yourself, instead of living it vicariously, staring out the window! Enjoy.

I've come to the conclusion that when it's single digits it doesn't matter whether there's a minus sign or not. Cause, once it gets down to single digits and below, it just doesn't matter any more. It's too D cold to make a difference one way or an other.

I find the difference is in how fast your face freezes and your fingers fall off. Those negative below zero double digits require multiple trips back to the house for me. What generally takes me 30-45 minutes can double due to all the frozen stuff and cussing. Still prefer going out to staying in the house though.
