I had the coop (converted horse stall) all converted a few years ago .... until we saw an ermine by the house that November. I pulled up the horse mats from the dirt floor and covered it with 1/2" hardware cloth and put the mats back down. An ermine can get through really small holes and there were mice or rats that snacked on the feeder in the coop at night.

quiet day here today.. the snow went way south from us. we didn't even get any rain.
today I racked two jugs of wine.. I will do that one more time .. years ago I gave away all of my cleaned wine bottles..I didn't think I was
going to make any more wine.. who knew ?
I can leave it in the 5 gal jugs as if it were in wine bottles. but if I take any out, then I would have to bottle the rest..
I have to find a fancy restaurant that serves a lot of wine. maybe they will save some bottles for me..
Or, God forbid, I will buy some ? 😞

How would you cap/cork used wine bottles?
I suspect a restaurant would be more than happy to give you some empties, they just toss them anyway.

But since you found some, an hour (is that one way or round trip?) gets you out of the house for a time :D

This is what I use.

Cappers are similar but the threaded caps are more expensive than the corks.

I have an antique bottle capper in the garage but it won't do the threaded caps.

I checked out Filmore containers. I think their prices seem better than lots of other places i checked.
this morning we took a 40 mile each way trip to Medford. Met a guy with lots of wine bottles. 3 cases/$10.oo I bought nine cases
that should get me through what I need now, plus maybe one or two batches in the future.
I opened a bottle of rhubarb wine that I made in 2002. it needed sweetening, but now it is very good..
