My dog eats wet dog food along with his dry food and the wet dog food makes him fart real bad, even if I give him yogurt. Taking him off of the wet food is not an option, he will not eat without it, and I have tried Pedigree, Ol Roy, Gravy Train, and Alpo and I get the same smelly reaction

any suggestions?

The grains are usually the issue.

The brands you named are the bottom of the barrel in commercially produced dog foods.

I would suggest 2 things: A better food (do a search online, some suggestions: Evo, Taste of the Wild, Blue Buffalo), and a Digestive Enhancer. I use the one from Nature's Farmacy http://www.naturesfarmacy.com

Try some of the premium canned foods. Or do like gritsar and make him gravy! That would not give him gas.

There are other alternatives to wet dog food. How about cottage cheese? Sprinkle of Parmesan? Raw hamburger? Warm water to make a natural gravy?

I also second switching to a better brand of dry dog food. Even if you can't afford some of the ones listed already there are still better brands than what you have listed.

How about Nutro lamb and rice? Do you have a Costco? Kirklands brand is decent.

Have you tried to phase out the wet food? a little less each day gradually leaving only dry in the end.

Dogs are carnivores. The grains that are in dogfood are very hard on their digestive tracts.

Drop the wet food and just add a little water... I suggest switching to a better food, something like Nutro, Iams, or Purina Exclusive...I've heard the lamb and rice mixtures are the best for controlling gas... All natural dog foods have worked wonders on my 3 stinking up the house... good luck

You can get better quality dog food, and much cheaper, at the feed store than you can at the grocery store. We feed Western Ranch Hi Pro that we get from the feed store. It is much cheaper than the premium brands and our dogs do really well on it. Their stools are firm, nearly odorless, and the dogs look good. Atta Boy, available from Costco is another option.
