One of our sweet babies (Daylight) passed away this morning.
Went to check on them when I woke up this morning and noticed Daylight was resting but letting the other chicks walk on their head. Once we got Daylight out we could tell they were grasping for air, eyes closed and body was very limp. I tried breathing in Daylight’s beak, performing CPR and gave some sugar water. Daylight would twitch like they were trying to get up, move legs but never open it’s eyes. After some time, Daylight opened their eye and then stopped the twitching and grasping. :(
Has anyone had this happen before or can explain what happened? Thank you.

Some background:
Daylight was bought from Atwood’s with 5 other chicks.
Daylight slept a lot more than the others. Also seemed very weak when we first got them but the next few days was up a lot but again would sleep a lot more than others. Would randomly drop it’s head and close its eyes.
Had no issues holding Daylight, was eating and drinking water like the others.

Welcome to BYC. Poor chick. Very sorry for your loss. Some chicks do die of shipping stress, pasty butt, and from failure to thrive. I would get some Poultry
Cell or Poultry NutriDrench and give each of your chicks 2 drops daily and make sure each is drinking water and eating their chick crumbles. Check for stuck on poop on the vents and clean off. Are you using a heat source?
