but what I had to do was STOP everything... all the walking I was doing even swimming because each time I would try an supplement my exercise I would re injure my foot. I was walking over 5km a day through hiking trails and now I cant do that anymore and my weight has a lot to do with it if I was not carrying an extra person with me all the time I would be a lot better off. I am over 120lbs over weight with a bmi of over 43...

I didn't want to read all of the comments; and no I haven't had it done. However, my brother-in-law is a bariatric surgeon, and just performed the first in Indiana totally robotic bariatric surgery. I don't know exactly what kind, as I don't know much about them. He was in the newspaper and didn't even tell us. If you happen to want to travel to Indiana, his name is Dr John (Jack) H Ditslear. I think he's really good, but you'd never hear that from him, he's a pretty humble guy.

Greg and I both had gastric bypass surgery. We're both getting close to goal weight and that's been the best thing for us, that we have each other to support and bounce ideas off and complain and whine ..... I had a LOT of complications and a post op infection that required IV antibiotics at home for several weeks as well as a couple of other surgical procedures to fix extra problems. If you'd asked me a couple of months ago I'd have told you I wish I hadn't done it, but now that everything is sailing along and I'm healthier than I have been in years I'm very happy. Greg is just happy all the way around. Good luck to you.

I think it depends on your pre-op condition....

one of my former co workers said 10days before her surgery she had to go to a mashed portion controlled diet and then 5 days out she was on fluids only to shrink her liver to reduce the risk of injuring her liver (accidental nick) during surgery..

I think I just saw this on "The Doctors" show, they go in through your belly button and put a scope down your throat to see. Then it is all done with this robotic claw type this, really cool! Supposed to be much less invasive and easier to recover from. They showed the procedure, or a film of one being done on the show, and then showed the woman who had it done, there on the stage 2 days after, feeling great.
