hey everyone! so I am completely out of ideas, hopefully someone may have an idea for me. I have a run that is chicken wire secured by metal fence posts. our old "door" was the left over wire that was basically snagged onto another post. that failed. I tried to use an old door, but it was too heavy. any ideas, or a direction to go in as far as what can I use for a door? can't be too heavy. does not have to be predator proof (other than keeping dogs out).

You can try to find a chainlink gate on craigslist or Home Depot-type places. I use a chainlink gate with only one chainlink type-post and use a T-post for the post to "latch" it to (for one of my areas).

I currently am in the same boat with some chicken wire fencing that I trample on to get in the pen LOL.

We just finished a similar run... the hubby made a door with a piece of plywood. He attached 1x4s to each side to strengthen it, and then attached it to the corner post. He just screwed a latch into the plywood side that "hooks" through the holes in the chicken wire. If I remember I'll get a phone tonight when I go lock them up.

GREAT ideas. our door looks sad and the girls have figured out how to escape from it since it's so flimsy. in one spot of the fence where our "flightly" gilr goes in and out of it totally mushed down. looks like we have to redo the fence come fall, or sooner!
