Hopefully, this question isn't too idiotic - but, if I'm at work all day and my girls' eggs have been in extreme heat (it was in the low 90s here today) - will the eggs that were layed today be spoiled?

As long as you collect regularly (1X day min.), they should be ok. I try to collect at least twice where I am in TX, just because it makes me feel better.

They will be fine. I live in Australia where our summers are really hot and humid. Only collect mine once a day.

Not idiotic at all. I remember thinking the same thing last year.

I agree they should be fine as long as you get them as soon as you can. Since yours probably don't all lay early in the morning they won't be in the heat all day anyway.

If i am concerned about some of my eggs being fresh i just do the floating test....I have never found a bad egg.

I'll add my two cents...they'll be fine. You might notice a change in consistency in the eggs, though. Sometimes the heat can stress the birds and make the shells thinner and the whites in particular seem less viscous. Those are just my observations, though.

Freshly laid eggs are pretty amazing. The coating on the outside protects them a lot.

Thanks, everyone! You've put my fears to rest!
