Thanks so much to you all. I am certainly going to stick to commercial feed. I was projecting in the long term when and if I ever feel I understand the ins and outs of my birds if ever I am lucky enough to get there. I just wanted to be sure about the "carrion" part because I did run across a statement to that effect and it put off the person who wants to go in with me. I was not able to confirm or refute it and had to find someone with real experience. I know I can't always trust what is posted on the internet and I am still in the planning stages as far as what kind of coop and where to situate it etc. I am also still researching what birds will do well in my area and the types of feed. I want to be sure I have all my variables covered before I get started. Thanks for the link!
