GAWD! THE RAIN!

I was glad to not to still be in NC when that one hit. We moved back to AL that May/June. The panic over Maria or Irema in 2017 (honestly can’t remember which now) was terrifying. We had a family member of oxygen and no way of getting replacements cylinders if the power went out and the roads were flooded like they expected. Luckily it missed NC but we didn’t get much sleep in the week leading up to it.

I don't remember that one.

As far inland as I am, Florence was the only one that was bad here.

We don't have that here, but we had Snowmageddon, followed closely by Treepocalypse. We got 4 ft of snow (normally about 1 ft at most) and the snow brought down unbelievable amounts of trees. We were literally snowed in with trees blocking all roads and no power for over 2 weeks in freezing temps, which is no bueno when you have wells for water. The night the trees fell was TERRIFYING. We could hear them breaking and crashing down. The ground shook with their weight. Couldn't see anything because the power was out. A tree fell on our roof, took out our carport and my hubby's car, and we lost over a dozen huge oaks - like 40-50ft trees. The neighborhood next to us was hardest hit. It looked like a tornado went through. Trees and power poles were completely shattered. We JUST got the last trees taken care of on Friday, nearly 7 months later.

That kind of crap is once in a lifetime here, but your hurricanes are seasonal. Y'all are tough cookies!
