Today my 2 geese attacked 1 of the silkie hens(the only one that's laying. ) They were pulling out her feathers and shaking her in the air. I ran out and saved her, and she was shaken but not injured. I put her back with the other hens, and about an hour later it happened again. She was not injured but I locked the geese up so she wouldn't be hurt. Why are they doing this?

Geese are aggressive. I've seen mine corner and attack chickens and ducks. I keep my geese in a separate area where chickens can escape if necessary by going through or under a fence.

The chickens have a space where the geese can't get in, but the silkies aren't the brightest chickens, so she just stands there when they get attacked. All three times they have attacked only one in particular. She is not the weakest in the flock. Why would they target her?

My geese are hit and miss on what birds they go after and which they leave alone. Only they know why. With silkies I would make sure they can't get in by the geese at all.

My American Buff geese HATE my Silkie rooster with the fiery burning passion of 1000 suns. He is safely behind chain-link now, but I've seen them flip temporary fencing and anything else to get to him. The last time they did it I heard the aluminum tin, bricks, etc. crashing outside. By the time I got up off the couch and outside they had chased (or carried) him through two pens into the fenced in yard and were all taking turns aggravating him, grabbing him and shaking him, you get the point. I raced out there and scooped him up and moved him somewhere the geese couldn't get to him. When they are out free-ranging they still go over and hiss and talk mean to him in his new pen, but they can't hurt him now.
