Geese & Duck People UNITE

I'm going to have to remember that Mothergoose; for my next duckling order. They sound like wonderful feathered friends to have around. I have my very first ducks coming the second week of March-blue swedish and khaki campbells. We shall see how I handle the "messier" birds

Can the young muscovies fly right after hatching? That is amazing. I imagine it would be a lot of fun to watch them learn to fly. We have barn swallows and I love to watch when the babies are learning to fly.

BrahmaMama -- I hear ya. I don't have kids, but my animals keep me running around like crazy as it is.

BrahmaMama,
Have fun with your ducklings. I will have to say, raising ducklings is a bit more labor intensive, but the end result is well worth it.

I think that is partly why I love the muscovies, I don't have any mess with them because the moms tend to them. But I get all the mess with all the other waterfowl babies we raise.
Have fun,
Christie

Ooops. Sorry. I guess I should have clarified that...them little guys just free fall and as soon as they hit the ground, they take off running after mom.
There has been a few in the past that just did'nt have the nerve( or had more sence) to drop. Those I had to climb up and rescue and carried them down to their mom. The moms are super protective too.

Ah, so they hit the ground running!

When one of my rouens had a brood last year she used to walk all over the little ones -- yeah, she's a clutz. It drove me crazy, but didn't seem to phase the little ones.
