Geese + Ducks together?

I sectioned off part of the coop and added a new stall for the geese,,was a tempoaray thing till I saw how awesome it worked out last night!!
I was building a goosehouse out of pallets, but having a heck of a time , so it was getting dark and the 2 geese had to sleep somewhere safe for the night. I banged up a stall (out of pallets) and threw on a gate,,bam! I have a perfect place for them now,,and I can put away all my tools for the house I WAS going to build! :)) the floor is wood,so I will lay down a thick layer of shavings and scoop out the droppings daily..:)
Way to go.

My geese have their own stall, works great.

If I only did that to begin with,,it would have been a better day indeed! Hahaha!! I love the stall!!

we have a large mixed flock, ducks, geese, turkeys, chickens, guineas. we have a single run that we put them up in at night, and they freerange during the day. we have birds that were brooded together (ducks+geese, chickens+turkeys+gineas) and some that were brooded separately, added as young adults, or raised by their parents. right now we're at 6 geese, about a dozen ducks, 6 turkeys, 25 or so chickens, 25 or so guineas.

sometimes the ducks and geese hang together, sometimes not. our geese do seem to object to duck mating and make a lot of noise, and occasionally interfere, but we've had nothing more than pinching, no injuries. we have several tubs and one recurring large puddle in our drive that the birds use, so while sometimes the geese push the ducks off the puddle or away from a tub, there's plenty of time for everyone to get in the water.

when we feed, everyone eats without much arguing, occasionaly some bird will nip another but no squabling.

there's much more contention between drakes (we have a couple of drakes who covet the same duck) than between the species. when we do see a kerfuffle, the ducks will scoot under the horse trailer because it's low and the geese don't like to get under it, but the ducks fit fine.

our shelter space is open right now on the ends (it's been hot) so we don't have an enclosed house, but rather an enclosed yard for night time. it's big enough there's no contention at night. if I were building an enclosed house I think I'd put in some partitions that started maybe 9" off the floor - if there was a duck/goose fight, the ducks can easily go under the partition, but the goose would ave to go around, or crouch to get under. gives them an escape route if they need it.

we've found that unless it's bitterly cold and blowing, the ducks and geese would rather be outside than in, so really all they need is an area they can sit that is straw- or shavings-bedded if they want to get their feet out of the snow.

My 2 geese are still in the duck house with the ducks at night. I let them out around 730-8am (just the geese). The ducks remain until 10am (they are laying eggs in the yard and we can't find them so our solution is to keep them in the coop longer and now we are getting more eggs). The geese are SO bothered by getting kicked out. They go to the pond to get a drink and come back and hang near the coop until the ducks are released. (we remove the geese because they are not laying, too young yet and one of our eggs had been trampled. the ducks lay anywhere in the coop and we don't want to lose anymore eggs to being stepped on) But it is really funny how they miss their duck buddies lol.

I enjoy hearing all your experiences with your birds! This makes me feel much ,more re assured,,I seem to have found a good solution to the night house/stall I mad. and during the day I increased the size of their run,,everyone seems to be fine :)...and I let the geese out every day for a few hours to graze and hang out with us ..
