Geese Questions

Thanks so much everyone!

I think i'll join the Sebastopol geese thread.

I bet a goose would blend right in with 20+dogs on our street barking at uh anything....

Also, what temperature do geese do well in?

In fall, it's been a little cold for us here in CA (lol it's 68 F today). It can get pretty hot in the summer (between 80 and 90 F), and at night it is usually around 50-60 F.
Geese can take the cold much better than extreme heat, but as long as they have a way to get out of the heat and have fresh water to splash around in and something to get out of high winds and very cold weather [but some members say their geese stay out in very cold weather too] Mine are locked up at night for their safety and comfort. I'd say new geese added would fit right in with barking dogs. lol .

I have Toulouse and this summer they comfortably survived 100+ weather. For most birds it is the heat more than the cold that you have to be concerned with. The come pre-insulated (built in down coats) and do pretty well at keeping themselves warm so long as they have a draft free environment to retreat to. We are in West Texas and it gets pretty cold here in the winter. Tomorrows high will be a little after midnight tonight. But as cold as it gets here (3 days last winter with a high of 19 degrees) it gets much colder in other areas where the geese thrive. So, I don't think your temps will be an issue.
