I did some searching and can't find anything on here. I'm curious if it's common for a couple of broody geese to share a nest? It's... sub optimal. The original broody goose (white one in pic) has been sitting on 12 eggs for three weeks +/- a day. The other Toulouse goose has been invading the nest to drop her egg next to the other goose and then the Toulouse is happy sitting on her one egg until I take it away from her. Then she usually can be put off the nest and she'll go about her day. The last few eggs, however, she's been pulling eggs out from under the other and sitting on those with her one egg. I don't have too much of an issue with this. I've tried multiple times to get the Toulouse to use the other nest I made her. But she's uninterested at this point. There were three eggs infertile or early quitters when I candled them the other day. One egg had a small crack and I had it in my incubator for awhile after sealing with parafin wax, then gave it back to the Roman goose. With this gray goose causing havoc, it must have been broken open today. Something ate it. I guess it could have been opened up a bit and if the geese got off today, maybe a chicken got after it.

In any event, they're down to nine eggs. The biggest pain is that the second goose stretches out the nest and makes it harder for the other goose to keep everything under her. *sigh*

Is this common? They're both quite gentle with me, but I really do wish the gray one would simmer down. She seems serious about being broody now, so maybe she's going to quit being quite such a pain.
