Does anyone have any experience with bee stings and their geese? Both of my Africans got stung multiple times by Honey Bees. They are both adults. The goose is okay acting fine just favoring her foot. The Gander immediately started limping and then laid down and was acting very tired. I pulled 5 stingers from his foot, so I know he was stung at least five times. The only farm vet in the area is closed and there areare emergency vets that deal with livestock. I'm sure he probably feels a bit off and I would expect that with how many times he was stung. My question is, can Geese have a beesting allergy? How many stings till it's fatal? I am freaking out. They are my babies!

@GeeseMama How are your geese today? My gander got stung a few years ago but not 5 times. I did soak his foot in warm Epsom salt water for a few days for the swelling. I hope he is okay this morning. I am not sure if you can give benedryl to water fowl might look that up for next time.

Thanks for asking....they seem fine today. No limping and the gander has very little swelling. I did an Epsom salt soak last night for both of them just as a precaution. I actually carried them to their pen last night because of the limping so I am surprised it was such a quick recovery. Although my husband seems to think that a lot of it was taking advantage of mom's lovin like kids lol. I am very glad that I was able to see the stingers though because I wouldve been fairly frantic otherwise.

I have a call in to the vet in reference to the Benadryl for next time so I will let you know what I find out

Thanks appreciate that also a worry here are yellow jackets. Nesting in the ground and one of the birds walking to close.

Glad they are much better today :thumbsup

We just had this same thing happen but not 5 times. Our goose started limping and so I got her and had my husband check her out. Sure enough there was a stinger!! I carried her to the creek and back and in a few hours she was okay.

Hey Miss Lydia, just FYI, no benadryl for geese or ducks per the vet.

Yes, mine were fine the next day. Was just a little worried because of pulling so many stingers out or the ganders foot. Poor baby. What a toughie, I can't even imagine. I would've been dead. I am allergic

Thanks so much for letting us know did he give an alternative? it would be nice to know if there is one.
No SHE did not lol. No alternative that she knows of that is safe for fowl. She added that she has never really heard of any type of fowl having a reaction/allergy to bees, wasps, etc. However, she did state that if stung enough times in repitition, at that point it would become life threatening, as it would really with any other animal, humans included.
