Geese won't eat!

My Sebastopol geese don't eat much feed. i do give them a pan of Flockraiser in their pen, which they nibble on. But they mainly like to graze. They love romaine lettuce, sliced apples, and mandarin oranges. Even though i've had them since they were babies, they do tend to be wary. One has a limp and i have had to pick her up on occasions to give her meds or take her to the vet. They all hate when i pick her up. If i walk towards them they walk away. If i walk away, they follow me. If i run with my arms up, they do the same. :) They like it best when i sit in a chair and they can come up to me.

Good luck with your Sebbies. They are such cool geese.

I just wanted to post an up-date on the Geese. They started eating like crazy 4 days after I got them. So far so good. They now have a pool (which I empty every afternoon) which starts to freeze, but they love it anyway. I feel they are adjusting, except they are not accustomed to being handled. It doesn't help that they are starting to mate, since the Gander is super protective of his mate. I get hissed at every time I open the pen door to feed or water them. I don't back down and in a matter-of-fact voice say "Really"! or "that's enough". If he takes a step towards me I stand very tall and take a step towards him. He does back away. I'm hoping that he will eventually be more tolerant of us. I can imagine that after the breeding season, he should also start to settle down?
