hi, I have two geese. (Embden geese). I'm sure of the sex of one, but the other I'm unsure of, they are both adults, one of them is nesting at the minute. The other one did try to breed with the one nesting. (Female). But do only male geese breed with females, is my one a male/female it does have a few characteristics, that you would expect a male to have, hissing, call out quite a lot, also lowering the head, when he hisses and shakes the head in the ground. Also because of her nesting would she know if her eggs are fertile? As well. So please could anyone help me I'm unsure, I'm quite new to this, and would li,e to learn more. Thank you

The one at the back I'm unsure of, so please could you help.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I'm afraid I'm no good with geese, I've only incubated and hatched their eggs. To be quite honest adult geese scare me! Nice birds you have there and I'm sure the keepers in the geese section will be able to help you with all your questions.

Enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

Welcome to BYC. Geese scare me too, since a few years ago when a Canadian goose bit me hard on the knee cap. I didn't know anything without teeth could inflict such a painful bite.
