I have a pr of rescue geese. The female has an old leg injury w/useless foot. I splinted leg, gave her pain & antibiotic meds. She’s strong, healthy & uses bad leg for balance. She made her nest & laid 4 eggs today. How can I help her be successful, it’s hard for her to get comfortable for a few seconds. I didn’t know geese would lay that many eggs in one day.

Welcome to BYC! @Erling

Geese can only lay one egg a day, so she was more than likely laying them over a period of time and then decided to brood. Cleaning her nest regularly and throwing out broken eggs will help your hatch significantly. Making sure she gets off the nest regularly every few days to eat and drink would be recommended, as some are overly committed. Lastly, make sure she is bathing in water to help prevent any external parasites as that can be common with broodies.

Good luck with your hatch! If you have any more questions fill free to ask!
