You see that red bar on his wing? That's something that sometimes shows REALLY early. It looks like a darker shade of gray at first giving a blotchy appearance to the chick's blue coloring and then the red can start to show there in the juvenile feathering stages. It's a certain sign, too, unlike trying to gauge comb size with no others of the same age to compare against.
