Gender confused rooster

We put out some new laying boxes for our girls. We put some hay, eggs, and golf balls in them. Our rooster hops up there and begins building a nest and is now sitting on the egg and golf ball. This happen to anyone else?

My rooster sometimes clucks at the nest as if to show the hens where to lay. I have read some stories and seen some pictures of roosters in the nest box on this site.
