Gender ? Gl Plolish

I'm pretty sure that is how you tell when they are older at this age you can't go by that because it is not fully devloped i think.  But none of the other chick have a starting of a comb that i noticed so that is why i wonded if this one was a male.

I know but she didn't say you can't sex a polish by it's crest until it's older I know those laced ones are difficult.

It *IS* confusing!!! I have a Silver Laced Polish that was born May 15th. Until 2 weeks ago I was 100% sure he was a boy. Now I really am starting to believe that he is a SHE! I still call him a "he" but I think that is inaccurate now. Wembley had a mohawk as a baby and I was told that shape indicated boy while a boufant indicated girl. I'll have to post photos and get feedback but for what it is worth, it has taken me this long to figure out the gender of my Polish and I'm STILL not sure, lol!

I did some ressearch and This is a quote i found on another Thread:
quote form Andora:

The crest sexing isn't reliable at first, because sometimes they can fool you! The best way to tell is around 4-6 weeks. Roosters will start to get red wattles and/or a V comb (which looks like little horns) and pullets definitely will not. The only thing a pullet at 4-6 weeks should have is possibly tiny flesh colored wattles, and many don't even have that. Some roosters will only get wattles or only a comb at first, then the second thing will show up later, but as long as they have one or the other then it's 99.5% sure it's a roo!

I've found this to be reliable for crevecoeurs, polish, spitzhaubens, and houdans! I think sultans are similar also because the only sultan I've had grew a comb at 6 weeks and he was rooster.

Wow great info. i guess my little mohawk is a girl then. I cant believe she is a straight polish. I was helping a friend clean out her brooder. She has ALOT of breeds and does big time breeding and selling and she wasnt sure what all she threw in the mix but I also ended up with a hen and roo standard black cochin. Just beautiful birds. Thank you all for th einfo on my birds and I did not mean to hijack this thread.
