Going by feathers and crests, they both look like young cockerels to me so far. I think I see streamers. Can you get your husband to take photos of them standing up, and a close up of their combs with the crest held back. Cockerels have a different body shape and stance.

he is so stinking cute so it’s ok! The uneven feathering on the head and actually feathers in the tail (not just fluff) usually indicates a male but silkies are notoriously hard to sex so who knows!
