Gender guessing my EEs ~ Pic Heavy NEW 5/12

At 6 weeks on up you can sex most EE's by their colors, because most EE's come in colors based off the duckwing gene. Each gender can only have certain color patterns behave in certain ways, even if they're modified by other genes that make one look different from another. There's a thread that gives tips and tricks on how to tell the difference. It can be hard to describe at times. One big golden rule is that if the bird has very contrasting colors instead of mixed colors, and especially if the shoulders/wings begin to get more rich red, yellow, or orange than the rest of the body - It's a boy.

But, with colors like those, some other rules follow -

If it is white and has red on the breast, it is a girl. White males cannot have red breasts but can have red wings, neck, and back.

If it is mostly black with gold markings especially around the neck, it is likely a girl but some small details can differ and make it a boy. In most cases though with a color like that, boys will eventually get deep orange or red on the wings. Girls won't.

If it has a mix of gold, brown, and bits of black throughout most of the body - Bold black markings developing on the breast means a boy. Gold and black stripes on the neck and mostly brown body means it is a girl.

Mostly gray or black and white with a colored chest means it is a girl.

I still can't believe all of my easter eggers are likely pullets... Now I need to figure out the rest of the chickies genders and breeds.... I'm scared about those too..... We ordered straight run expecting lots of boys.....
