Hi we bought this mix of turkeys at auction back in late August. Looking for help in IDing their gender and if possible their breeds. I know they could be mixed but at least a couple of them look like they could be pure breeds. None of them have been puffing/presenting but they are pretty shy/traumatized from before and they are still pretty low in the barnyard pecking order. Im hoping for at least one male. (Sorry, they are a muddy mess due to all the rain.)

The breed is very simple. They are all the breed Turkey.

Looks like they are a bunch of mixed variety turkeys. There may be a Bronze turkey in the group. There might also be a Bourbon Red although it seems a bit light colored.

For identifying the sex of turkeys from photos:

1. A full front photo.
2. A full side view.
3. An image from behind and above clearly showing the back of the neck and top of the head.

The turkeys need to be at least 3 months old. For some late developing toms they may need to be at least 6 months old.

All photos need to be of one turkey at a time. All images need to be in focus without any camera or bird motion blur.

If you can't wait for them to be mature enough to clearly identify the sex, there are a number of places that will do DNA testing from either a blood or feather sample.
