Gender or Bantam Breed Guess?

I’ve posted about our little Shadow before, but figure it’s worth another go. We picked this chick up with a mixed 8 assorted chicks from a chicken ranch in our area on 4/1. This chick was only a couple days out I think. The lady who sold her called her a Silkie but later said Silkie and Japanese cross breed, but who knows. I’m really just curious if she is a he or if any of you guys have an opinion on her. Some have suggested she’s a frizzle. She has hair down her legs and doesn’t like to be picked up. She does not get picked on by the others. TIA!

Is she 4 weeks old in this pic?! Assume she's gotten more feathers and size in 4 weeks. If so, can you post updated pics? Please take pic of this chick while it is standing, from the side. Make sure to include good pic of comb and wattles too.

Well, I've never had silkies, so maybe this is typical, even for a cross!

The comb looks kind of prominent, but I don't see any wattle growth. Of course, the fluff makes the chick look younger than she/he is. The pink color in the comb could just be from running around.

Wow! For 4 weeks, that chick is tiny!! For a regular chicken, I’d suspect cockerel with that comb (except for a white Leghorn chick as they get combs pretty early). Also, I know silkies are notoriously hard to sex so I really don’t have any confidence in saying male or female.

Gosh, not just tiny. By 4 weeks I would think she would have been much more feathered.

Yes, me too, but I think that is due to the Silkie genes in the chick.
