All the birds on this thread are cockerels.

Pullets don't get red combs until they're at point of lay (sexual maturity). The very early end for that is 16 weeks. Red combs at under 3 months is absolutely a cockerel.

Do australorps get a reddish head at an early age? I have two australorps with no combs. But a reddish head.

Red feathers or red skin/faces? Aussies are solid black, no red feathers.

Can you post pics? and how old they are.

They are about 7 weeks but I think this picture is from when they were a bit younger don't have one of them currently. But right around where a comb should be is where they are getting red.

I'll try and get one as soon as possible it's quite late where I'm at but I'm thinking right around the area marked in the picture. Don't know if that helps much but thanks for trying to solve this mystery!

Well her comb hasn't came in yet so I'm hoping she's a she. I'll take an updated picture tomorrow.

That's a pullet. I think what you're seeing is just the difference between the black skin and the regular colored skin. I'm not sure that's an Aussie, though...is that a straight comb? It kind of looks like a rose comb, but I can't tell if it's the angle or not.
