This golden sexlink is about 2 months old, the same as the chicken beside it. I know it's comb and waddle are bright red and larger, but it's tail feathers look female to me. What do you think before my friend gets rid of her/him? I looked up comparison hen/roo pictures and it looked more like the hen.

X2 Someone else posted another one of these this week, I think theirs was from TSC. I know they promise that they sex links are all first gen but someone has obviously dropped the ball somewhere. Color sexing on Golden Sexlinks only works in the first generation, I think they've got a clueless supplier/breeder somewhere down the line. If it's only 9 weeks the male feathers should start coming in somewhere in the next 3-5 weeks, your friend could wait until then just to be positive.

if that chicken is 8 weeks old, then its a cockerel. I don't know how, but there's no way a pullet would be close to the point of lay enough to have that big and red of comb and wattles. Not at 8 weeks.

Cockerel

This is the second time I've seen this. It's bad.....hatcheries are only supposed to sell first generation sex links. They are crosses of different breeds, and the only way the sex linking will happen. These are obviously sex links crossed with sex links, which does not pass the sex linking into the chicks.
