What do they sound like? Do they have a loud "quack quack" or a low raspy sound?
They appear to be hens.. But that depends on their age.. They could be juvenile drakes or drakes in eclipse. Best way to tell is by voice.

Looks like gray and maybe gray pied to me. Gray is what they call the ones that look like mallards in call ducks.
At 8 months you should be able to tell by their voice.

I think they are girls but why arent they laying eggs. Their 8 months.

Yes. Some of mine will start laying as early as February. They had pretty much stopped by November. It probably Depends on your climate as well and how many daylight hours you have.
