Gender? Type of duckling?

Hello BYC Friends!
We rescued this cutie when it was raining off the side of the freeway about 3 weeks ago and don’t know what gender or type of duckling. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!

We don’t know age when we found him/her (still very much a baby) but we will celebrate gotcha day which was on 1/19/21!

I also want to say that this is happening on the side of the wings and read that this is molting. Is this correct? No redness or infection going on

Looks like a female Rouen or Mallard. A very cute one.
Are you going to get more ducklings soon? Ducks are very social and it's best to have at least two.

I have read that as well, we are thinking about it but we’re very new to caring for a duckling so we are unsure at the moment

I think that if you can't, or don't want to get another duck to be friends with her, you should try and find a good home for her with other ducks. She is still young so it shouldn't be too hard to find a good home for her if you decide to do that

We’ve thought of that as well, I appreciate it. If we were to have another duckling, would it have to be about the same age/same breed as our duckling? Or seen a thread/article of this topic?

It doesn't have to be the same breed, but I would try to get one that is a similar adult size

Since you are likely going to have a hard time finding another duckling at this time, you can give them a mirror and a small stuffed animal to cuddle with. This will help with the lonelyness.
