Gender?

Hello,

I posted a while ago when I first got my Silkie. She was sold to me as a 5 month old, but I suspect that wasn't quite accurate. I have had her 5 weeks now and was just wondering if anyone can guess her gender better now. The camera is a very scary thing, so these are the best photos I could get.

Is it the same Silkie in all the pics, with the lighting changing its color so much in the 3rd pic? If so, it looks like it might be starting to get streamer feathers, which would mean cockerel. Its tough to see its comb in any of those pics, though, so a better pic of that would probably help.

It is the same silkie.. just different times of days and locations make the color look different I guess. I will try to get my good camera out so I can zoom in without scaring Fluffy.

I am not convinced. This bird also appears much younger than five months I agree. If you are able have somebody hold the chicken while you take a really good close-up of the head both in profile and head on showing any comb or wattles.

Oh I am silly,I never thought to have someone hold Fluffy while I grab a photo! I will try to get one tonight, I like the debate and reasoning though so in the mean time.. since this was posted lots of feet feathers have popped up, no spurs though I feel quite often, the hens all pick on him/her most, and no eggs or cockadoodles!

Sometimes the only accurate answer comes with waiting. With many breeds it's much easier to tell when there are several that can be compared to each other.
