X2It depends on the breed. Most are best checked at 8 weeks or so, but if you see a larger, red comb before that, you will know you have a cockerel. It is mostly the the comb you look at, unless you have breeds where the girls and boys have different color patterns. At 12 to 13 weeks, you can usually tell males because they have saddle and tail feathers that are different from a female's.
