Yeah, they're too young to tell. If it helps, I identified my Golden Laced Cochin Bantam as a roo at 2.5 weeks and I was right. Here is a picture of him at 3 weeks for reference. His comb was bigger than everyone else's and her had the beginnings of BRIGHT red waddles forming. They aren't always this obvious though. When I posted this photo some people still though he might be a hen.
I've had chicks hatch (cochin) that I could tell were roosters right away. My easter eggers though, a few of them I thought were boys until they laid an egg! Lol. Cute babies!
The farm we bought them from said they were females and I'm really hoping they are because if they're roosters I have to get rid of them cross your fingers for me!!
Hi all. I have a mixed flock of at least partial Brahman breed chickens (at least that's what I was think they are, lol). Can anyone assist me with a gender id for this white chick. I can't recall the age. I was hoping for pullet, but our gardener thinks cockerel. Let me know if a better photo is required. The mother with the chick is actually the foster. The eggs were laid/fertilized by closer to full brahman hen/rooster.
