Genders California quails

There’s a question id like
To ask well I still wanna find out what gender my quails are and apparently it’s the weight that makes it obvious the quail on my finger is heavier than the quail on the bed
Is the reason the one on my finger is heavier because they were born first? Or does it not make a difference?

The weight is not going to tell you which is male or female. At least not any sooner than it would already be super obvious based on their adult feathers.
