Genders on Buff Orpingtons

The pale faces make me think of graying on the face elderly dogs have. Maybe they are just anemic from worms or mites or something. Whatever, they weren't getting good care where they came from.

Pale faces and rough feathering - some of it bleached out and uneven in coloring makes me think they have seen a few trips around the sun.
I was thinking maybe lack of sun? They've been in a barn their whole life. It was dark besides the one heat lamp.

I also want to see how they look in a few months. This will be interesting!

Well, I actually hopped on board with the "golden girl" names, and named my 3 Dorothy,Blanch and Rose. The other will be my friends, she don't care if the one ends up hen or roo,but still named it Cassie!

being very optimistic on gender, and will definitely update over the next few weeks. Besides,I want to see how they change before I do end up putting them with my Orp roo!

I'm almost 100% sure those are females. I've raised Buff Orps hens for several years now and when they were that age, they looked exactly like those ones of yours.

(Here's some pics for comparison of my hen, Daisy. I tried to match her age in the pics with yours but they are still a bit off and, thus, her face is a bit redder.)
