General Earthworm/Gapeworm Question...

If earthworms can give even full grown hens and roosters gapeworms, what can i do to prevent, besides worming?? My chickens free range just about every day of the week for at LEAST 2-4 hours on weekdays, and almost all day on weekends... They dig up TONS of earthworms...

how often do i need to worm them?
can i worm them using "non-medicinal" ways like pumpkin seeds?

Hope you get an answer - I'm wondering the same thing. I really don't want to routinely worm my girls, but they certainly dig up some earthworms - especially this time of the year.

even when they are not "free-ranging" mine are still in a big run... i'm positive they're eating earthworms all day long...
