general questions about geese

Quote:
I got my Element because of the geese but even then I had them travel in cardboard boxes. They travel with a lot less fuss when they can't see and comment on the country they are passing through. mine would panic everytime we passed or got passed and hated traffic. BTW dont fall for that myth that you can just hose down the inside or you will have a very unpleseant suprize if you ever need the spare or the jack that is in a well under the rear floor. (been there done that) But goose poop does wipe off the interior very well without much effort.

i was surprised at how silent they were the whole ride home. didn't make a peep!

yeah, it didn't dare take the hose to the inside. so nice that the back floorboard just pops out (which i did hose down) and the seats were so easy to wipe with a wet towel. it was spotless in about 15 mins!

the geese are doing good. they're out free-ranging for the first time today and it's been hilarious. the dogs are terrified of them- especially my working dog, Gus the Red Heeler, who is really a big ole softy. the cats are intrigued. little Tommy seems to think he is one of them since they have the same coloring: white with orange accents. he keeps trying to hang out and they keep running him off.

they almost got the meter reader from the power company today. he just walked right out to the meter, which happens to be right next to their pen, and he got a big surprise when Ricky went honking like a madman (or goose) right at him! it was great.

they've also decided that the backyard is for LOSERS and only want to be out front next to the garage where they can keep an eye on everything. right now they are lounging behind one of the bushes taking a little mid-day nap.

silly silly geese. i need to find a sign that says "BEWARE ATTACK GEESE AND SISSY DOGS!"

I might be late with this info... but we have a electric fence made for smaller animals like dogs etc. It pulses and only has enough charge to give an unpleasant shock. The only time it has not worked was when the wire was not hot and two of the babies crossed over into the dog fence. Because the dogs were not used to the babies well you understand... Main thing though the dogs stayed in their yard even when the wire went cold.
