This seems silly and generic, but also useful so I'm just going to answer the questions from the provided template in a small paragraph format because I never know what to say. So... Am I new to chickens and/or how did I first get chickens? I have lived on a farm my entire life, and so when I was younger we had chickens. But due to a neighbor dog, we couldn't continue to do so for many, many years. Finally there came a point where not only did we have no neighbor dogs, but we had no neighbors, so we got chickens and have had chickens since. How many chickens do I have right now? I would have to ask my mother in terms of the outside farm flock, but I know it's gotten to be a decent sized little flock, with two roosters currently, and three chicks still growing. Personally, in a more pet-like situation, I have seven chickens and two turkeys. What breeds do I have? Out on the farm, we mostly have Ameraucana mixed with something else that I can't recall right now. In my pet selection, I have four Silkie Bantems and three Old English Bantems, and then two turkeys (a Broad Breasted Bronze and a Broad Breasted White). What is or are my favourite aspects of raising backyard chickens? No ticks. What are some of my other hobbies? Survivalism, gardening, I like writing when I find the time. But right now I'm actually really into plants, I have a lot of succulents and cacti. About my family, my other pets, my occupation, or anything else I'd like to share. I live currently with my mother and my uncle. My younger brother was living at home too, but he recently moved into a place with his girlfriend. I stay at home to help my mother with the farm work, and to help care for my uncle, who is her older brother. Pet-wise, I have two dogs, two cats, a red-eared slider, two bearded dragons, a sulcata tortoise, and an aquarium that has a male and female betta, some danios, and a couple of african dwarf frogs. I work at a Pizza Hut, very uninteresting. I want to just be self-sufficient at home and not have to work, but I'm not quite there yet. I'm very reserved, I'm basically a literal hermit with no social skills. I have my farm and my animals and sometimes I interact with humans. How did I find BYC, how long have I known about them, and what made me finally join? Whenever I go online to look for answers to my bird issues, I often end up finding helpful answers on this website. It crops up often enough that I began to notice it, and I finally figured since I was getting so much help from it, anyway, I may as well be a member and signed up just a few minutes ago. Admittedly it is with an issue that I will be posting about wherever it looks applicable, but I wanted to start with the introduction post and then go inquire about my bird problems.
