Generic wood chip mulch ok for their run?

I would second chipdrop. Very easy, and free as long as you have somewhere they can easily drop the wood chips.
ll, I would probably do what they did when they dropped off the fill dirt to fill a dip in my yard so I could make a garden. They dropped it on the back of my driveway, and I had to wheelbarrow it all to where it went. It killed me and took me forever. But I have a nice garden now.

Call a tree service and tell them you need wood chips to put in your chicken run. No more than $35-$65 to deliver as that covers his gas and time if it out of his way. Most tree services pay a land fill to dump so tell them you don't charge to dump and they can keep their $80 . My good friend owns a tree service and I use his equipment to load my truck at his wood yard. Take a look. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/refill-on-deep-litter-run.1393987/#post-22878323
He has his competitors dump at his wood yard some times if the land fill is closed.

You want the wood chips dumped somewhere you don't have to move them for months.
I know, but there is no way to get a dump truck back there. I would have to haul them from the driveway to the spot myself. Like I did when I was making my garden.
