Hi everybody! I just bought a home in Genesee Twp. Mt Morris, MI. From what I can find I think I am allowed 4 birds and I cannot find anything prohibiting roosters. My backyard is totally enclosed by an 8' privacy fence. I am wondering if the Right to Farm Act will protect me if I keep more than 4 birds I don't want more than 8 or 10 of which 2-3 would be roosters. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I think it depends on your township and your neighbors. I know that people have tried to keep chickens with or without a rooster and if neighbors complained and they went to the twsp board most have had to give up roosters and even hens. Go talk to your township superviser. Good Luck and Congrats on the new home.
