I am thinking about getting a Genesis incubator. I currently have a hovabator 2362N, and just recently bought the 1602 w/ a fan kit. Well that fan kit is a PITA to install. I can't even figure out how to install the fan kit. Am thinking of trying to sell the 2362 if I get the Genesis. I found a Genesis 1588 pretty cheap and wondering are they forced air or still air? And how do the compare to the 2362's. I know they have the big picture window which is nice. Also isn't the temp preset too? And it has a humidity gauge as well. How realiable are those 2 things on it? I obviously have a egg o meter that I plan on using in it to compare the temps too. And have a humidity gauge I will be putting in as well. Any input on the Genesis would be greatly appreciated.'

Thanks

I'm just new at this but saw you didn't have replies so I'll give you my 2 cents. I bought a Farm Innovators incubator from CAL Ranch this spring. Its almost identical to Little Giant (which my bro in law has two and has fits with them). Have not been able to hatch ANY eggs in it. Thrown away 50. I think I get the temps figured out and steady, and then they spike - up to 104 twice! The thermometer in it is worthless, reads 9 degrees lower than the Accurite I put in it from Walmart.

On a late night whim I found a good deal on a Genesis and bought some hatching eggs from across the country. The eggs arrived 4-5 days late thanks to the post office. I set up the Genesis, filled just the #1 tray with water like it says for incubating, and it stayed right at 40-45% humidity, which is what I was going for, and the temp RARELY varied from 100 degrees. When it got below 20% I'd fill it up again and it went right back.

Of 48 eggs I got 36 to lockdown. Most of these are from my own flock and I have one poor rooster for 27 hens, so I'm not expecting perfect fertility. I'm not great at candling yet, and have some dark brown and dark blue eggs which I couldn't tell. Filled the #1 and #2 tray and humidity went up to 65-75%, which is what I was striving for. On day 20 TWO of those eggs shipped across country hatched easily. The reason I'm still up now is that 5 total have hatched, 17 have pipped and are active, and I'm still hopeful for the others because its just barely day 21.

I have been VERY impressed with this bator. It is forced air, has a tray in the bottom for clean-up, seals tightly, and preset for temp. Its also good for hatching in because it is deeper, the chicks are further away from the heat and air. The control is not easily bumped or changed, little fingers and interested helpers can't adjust it because they think the temp shows low. It has been great. I got the egg turner for it also which allows for a large number of eggs to start with. I have no complaints.

Good luck!

I too have a Genisis 1588 .Only a few weeks old and about to go into lockdown.Got like 115 Quail eggs in turner in it.Its been a user friendly machine haven't had to do anything, but clean, add water, and plug in ,watched for 24 hrs, loaded and away we go.Been right on track, add water every 3 days. The neatest part is when you watch the digital display it cycles through ;set temp-inc temp- humidity. Just watch it about 10 sec and you got your data .For that info no buttons to push at all.I also have a Brinsea Mini Adv and My old stand by Fridge-a bator. There loaded too all due early next week...cva34

I have the 1588 and had a decent hatch out of it at Easter. As far as I can tell the temp on it runs a little low so I had to set it up to 101.5 to get all other thermos to read 100. I have to add very little water to get my humidity to 40-45 % which is where I like it the 1st 18 days. Then I fill both reservoirs with water on day 18 to get the humidity to 65-70%. Had 8 out of 11 bantams hatch with no problems at all. I have the egg turner which is nice so you dont have to open the top at all. And I add all my water thru one of those little clear rubber tubes (like for oxygen masks) with a syringe attached. I just took the plunger out of the syringe attach the clear tube (about 8-12 inches long) and stick the tube down thru the vent hole in the top of the bator then pour warm water into the syringe and it goes right where I need it. Hope I explained that right LOL. I really like mine so far. Hope you get one I think you will be happy. Good luck

I have 2 Genesis 1588's - one with a turner for incubating, and one without a turner for hatching. On day 18, I just move the eggs from one unit to the other. Works for me!

I have a genesis also. The only thing I have a problem with is the humidity. If I were to fill the first line with water it would go up to 70 or 80 % I put very little water in it. I just started it up and put a couple of dolups of water in it and it went way up to 70 to start with. I am running it for a day or so before I put shipped eggs in it. It has gone down now to 40 % I usually run it around 35 to 40 for the first 18 days then push it up to around 60 or 65. That works good for me. I have a older little giant turner in it so I have to open it to put the water in. I tried to put the tubing through the hole in top but it doesn't go where it needs to go. After they are on the floor it works but not before.

The Genesis Incubator is manufactured by https://www.gqfmfg.com/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=77

The GENESIS Hova-Bator is TUV LISTED. This certification along with the safety afforded by its 12 Volt system makes it perfect for use in classroom and laboratory settings. It is pre-set for bird eggs. Simply plug it in, then add water for humidity and eggs. While the thermostat set temperature can easily be fine tuned, most users won’t find it necessary. The LCD will display set temp, actual temp and humidity percentage in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. The pre-set microprocessor based thermostat digitally regulates itself. The digital technology in this thermostat means the command setting is never affected by changes in humidity, temperature or dust. Built in sensors prevent the “burn up” of eggs. Like all incubators, the GENESIS requires a stable room temperature and should not be used in areas like sheds or barns. Excellent for classrooms, novices, and experts. Thermostat can be set to any temperature required for bird eggs and can also be set for all reptile eggs down to 60F. (room temperature has to be 50F for the 1588 to regulate 60F.). Includes picture window & plastic bottom liner. TURNER SOLD SEPARATELY. 1588 - 12 Volt DC power supply operates on 100 to 240 Volt AC . Only U.S. plug & cord set supplied. Input: AC 100-240V 50/60 Hz 1.5A Output 3000mA 12Volt Without an automatic turner in place, the incubator will hold 50 duck or chicken eggs or 130 quail eggs. Dimensions 18 1/2” x 18 1/2” x 9 1/2”

So let me clarify, does this incubator regulate itself as in it changes it's own temp up and down to maintain the temp that you set it at?
