Genetic Flaw in Meat Birds

I've noticed a lot of variation in the feathering of the cornish x.

Here are some hens that are pretty well feathered at 3.5 weeks old.

But I have one rooster that feathering in very slowly. He's not a runt, in fact he's thinks the top bird in the pen.

I call him the 'dodo bird'. Here he is chest bumping another bird. (all birds are 3.5 weeks old)

This is the same pen at 4 weeks. The roos are still not fully feathered. I do have a runt hen but she's mostly feathered.
