Genetic question about comb breeding

I have two hatchery light Brahmas. The male has a nice looking 3 row comb as pictured below. The female has the wrong comb (maybe modified walnut). I wasn’t planning to hatch out babies but a couple broody hens hatched quite a few Brahma eggs. Of the first batch two ended up with combs like the mama (both ended up being males). The female had what I thought was a nice single row pea comb but as she’s getting older it almost looks like a single comb. Is that possible? Please see picture below.

Of the second batch with 5 chicks one looks like it could be like my other pullet, 2 are like the mom, and 2 are three row pea combs like the dad.

Also on one of the flat combs the chick’s coloring looks off like it is darker and it has darker feet so may be some back genes in there. All others have yellow feet.

First off will the comb type just be random or could it indicate sex? Secondly if I keep a female of the correct comb what are my chances of breeding this incorrect comb type out?

is this a single comb or just a pointy pea comb? Chick is about 9 weeks old

Brahmas should be pea comb, single comb would indicates a Bad breeding plan. I would not breed from that stock
I did not plan to breed them as the only Brahma female I had has an obvious incorrect comb but now that I have babies I was hoping to pick a new female that has the correct comb in case I wanted to work on a breeding project or to breed some for those that want them (obviously not high quality but still true to breed). Is the young pullet above a single comb or could it still be a pea comb?

Would those two comb types even produce a single comb?

Yes, that young pullet is single comb and the reason you got a single comb from a Pea Comb x Single Comb cross is because the rooster with pea comb is actually heterozygous for the pea comb gene(P/p+) So when you cross that Rooster P/p+ x p+/p+ you get 50% pea comb and 50% single comb

I don’t understand much with genetics so try to make this as simple as possible (which I’m sure you did) 🤦🏻‍♀️ So let me see if I can understand what you are saying. The cross was between these two combs. One is a pea comb. Are you saying the pea comb is made with a single comb gene? The hens comb looks like a modified walnut. It’s actually puffier now but this was when she was just maturing and I didn’t have a good recent picture. Not sure what mixes made this comb maybe a rose comb gene in there mixed with pea. So if the pea comb carries a single comb gene I can see that being spit out but not at a 50% rate. Out of the 8 chicks that hatched only 2 may be single ( one is pretty young still so not sure if it’s single or pea), 2 are three row pea, and 4 are flat like mom’s was. Am I understanding any of this?

Your rooster looks to have a mixed comb, pea plus single make the comb look like that. I don't know what is going on with the female, but I'm not great at comb genetics.

Gosh I may have to scratch everything I thought I knew about pea combs. I thought he had a nice 3 row pea comb. What should it look like? Do all 3 row pea combs have the single comb gene or his specifically? What about his comb indicates it’s hererozygous with a single comb gene? I’m trying to learn what I can. Thank you for your patience.
