I have been doing some reading and found something that may be of interest.It says that on both types of white the addition of columbian enhances slate legs in the presence of sex linked barring.So I was wondering what adding columbian to barred would produce in plumage color.Not sure what change there would be but it may allow slate legs.I plan to give it a try and keep you posted.I have a silver penciled bantam {columbian gene] I can use.EE often have the columbian gene so I will look for some at sales to try in large fowl.Something to consider.

I was told that the barring gene in the Campine breed is a different gene. It does not appear to inhibit slate legs.

Yep, it's different - It isn't barring.

I have read that it is autosomal barring and on the B locus.Slate is on the Z chromosone which make it sex linked.I think having both sex linked may be part of the problem.
