na,
Jusa red
Red and buffs in silkies often have black feathers in the tail and wing area. It's very similar though. But the genetics arent in silkies for it to just pop up

I would think that you could get the color Ginger Red in a couple different ways. When I look at your Ginger Red d'Anvers, Aubrey - I see the Columbian gene with an few mahogany genes and an intermediate amount of melanotic genes that lands them somewhere between a Buff Columbian and a Quail. When I look at the pictures of the Ginger Red Old English Game I see a Db based bird most likely of BBR origin. I clearly see stippling in the ground color of the feathers in the pullet with minimized frosting and shafting - this is your standard Ginger Red. While it is not a disqualification - good Ginger Reds will not have that tell-tale light colored shaft or frosting around each feather. Ginger Reds also do not have striping in the hackles of the males, something that can be accomplished by using good quality BBRs (or possibly Buffs if they carry the Db gene). If your Ginger Red hens are lacking stippling - BBR would be the logical choice. It may help you minimize the lacing and shafting in the process. If your birds carry Db, then everything will fall into place from there. Conversely, if they carry Co/Co, then you will be getting a wonderful variety to select from, but will have a harder time establishing the stippling in the female while keeping the male clean from black.

The standard for Ginger Red females IS flawed. The Db gene causes the shafting and frosting. If you are showing Ginger hens WITHOUT shafting and frosting they are heterozygous for wild-type. Stipling is only possible on BB Red and BB Red hybrids.. Tim

Ginger Red's are Black Breasted Red (BB Red) with Dark Brown (Db) added.
If you take Ginger Red and add Silver (S) you have Silver Ginger.
If you take Ginger Red and add Cream (ig) you have Cream Ginger.

From where is this picture? Do you have it for the other family bases?
